Retail Merchandising Analyst
The Retail Merchandising Analyst combines data analysis with merchandising strategy to drive retail performance and ancillary revenue growth. This role supports business planning, purchasing, and assortment optimization by analyzing sales trends, customer behavior, and operational data. It also contributes to the broader ancillary revenue strategy with a focus on digital-first opportunities and operational efficiency. In addition to the analytical component, the role also includes in-person support for merchandising at bases. The ideal candidate brings a blend of analytical expertise, business acumen, and merchandising insight to enhance profitability and customer experience.
WORK HOURS: Office hours (weekend and evenings as needed)

Responsibilities and Expectations
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze sales data, customer purchasing patterns, and product performance to inform pricing, product selection, and promotional decisions.
- Monitor inventory levels and movement to optimize stock availability and minimize overstocks or stockouts.
- Conduct competitive and spanet analysis to support pricing strategies and assortment decisions.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support retail, F&B, and ancillary service insights.
- Collaborate with IT and Digital teams to improve and automate reporting systems.
Merchandising and Inventory Management
- Oversee the inventory storage and operations function at all HA locations. Receive orders in the Vancouver location.
- Forecast demand and recommend inventory allocations across locations based on sales performance and trends.
- Advise on optimal product placement and presentation strategies to maximize sales. Physically set up retail displays in some locations.
- Support seasonal and event-based merchandising plans, including promotions and new product launches.
- Support the design, procurement, and inventory of branded merchandise, ensuring quality and brand consistency.
- Coordinate with Ground Services to enhance food and beverage offerings in alignment with customer needs and sales data.
- Coordinate with cross functional teams to support in-person merchandising and inventory management activities
Purchasing and Vendor Management
- In collaboration with Senior Leader, manage vendor relationships, including negotiation of terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
- In collaboration with Senior Leader, place and track purchase orders for retail goods and promotional materials, ensuring alignment with budget and sales forecasts.
- Evaluate vendor performance and identify opportunities for cost savings or product improvement.
Market Monitoring and Process Improvement
- Stay current on industry trends, customer preferences, and competitor activity to identify new opportunities.
- Identify and recommend improvements in merchandising systems, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Support the development and execution of strategic projects across cross-functional teams.
Qualifications/Assets
IDEAL EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in retail analytics, merchandising, purchasing, or related activities
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, or a related field.
CRITICAL CAPABILITIES
- Strong understanding of retail principles, inventory management and customer service best practices
- Understanding and experience with reporting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Proven business acumen with the ability to analyze and evaluate opportunities for strategic decision making
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and prioritize strategically
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business priorities and customer needs
- Ability to leverage innovative technology to enhance business effectiveness
