About this position:

The Advisor, Marketing & Communications is a natural storyteller, who thrives in a multi-faceted environment where there is never a dull moment. The Advisor will develop and implement employee and corporate communications, social media, and spaneting initiatives with a laser focus on creating a consistent brand presence in the spanet and unified culture for staff. Confidently agile, the Advisor, Marketing & Communications is comfortable working in an environment where changes and growth in role and responsibilities will take place over time. The role requires a creative individual who excels at collaboration, embraces change, and drives innovation.

Reporting to: Manager, Marketing & Brand and Manager, Communications & SR

*Non-bargaining

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Must be able to perform, but not be limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Build relationships, across the network and with other brands and influencers, to capture the latest news, strategies and activities, and turn them into compelling stories and social media content
  • Develop and execute proactive internal comms, spaneting, and social media campaigns that create excitement, drive engagement, align teams and shape culture
  • Measure, monitor, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of communication, spaneting, and social media campaigns and make recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Monitor traditional and social media, moderating and responding to comments as appropriate, and reporting back to the team weekly
  • Partner with trusted third-party vendors on graphic design, web design, photo and video shoots, to create striking spaneting and communications collateral
  • Provide exclusive support in the planning and organization of all corporate events including town halls, employee events, trade shows, job fairs, info booths, pop-ups, community engagement, milestone celebrations, conferences, etc.
  • Stay current on social media trends and audience preferences, and make informed recommendations on how the Company can leverage them to grow and maintain followers and build community
  • Retain full control of the editorial calendar, keeping it current and filled with engaging topics and visuals

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Include, but not limited to, the following minimum skills and qualifications:

  • Post Secondary Education (2 years)
  • Three (3) years of previous experience
  • Creative writer, skilled at simplifying complex topics into bite size bits of content that appeal to a wide audience
  • Experience in successfully implementing internal communications in industrial organization with remote workforce focused on safety
  • Proven ability to execute communications and/or spaneting plans, thinking strategically while delivering tactical results
  • Possess outstanding oral and written communications skills including superior writing, grammar, editing, proofreading and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think analytically and develop solutions that meet the business needs of the company
  • Significant social media and community management experience, across multiple platforms, within a business setting required
  • Proficient using multi-social posting programs such as Hootsuite and HubSpot and analytical tools such as Google Analytics
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites
  • General knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and internet ranking for web content
  • Relevant experience determining a target audience and how to cater unique spaneting campaigns to capture their attention
  • Strong team player with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with partners and staff at all levels
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and meet firm deadlines
  • Northern experience, a definite asset
  • Airline experience, considered an asset
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktut a definite asset
  • Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Pass in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada
