POSITION SUMMARY
The Logistics Analyst (focus on Cost Control and Payments) administrates and oversees the costs and payments of the freight services (under contracts and spot quotes) related to the USA VSS afterspanet operations, spanning the following types of shipments: intercompany (imports to USA), repair (import/exports/domestic), customer-related (core returns, exchanges, sales) and purchase of spare parts from suppliers. The analyst will execute cost analyses, identifying and implementing initiatives to increase the efficiency of freight and logistics processes, and will participate, contribute and lead projects related to those activities. The analyst will also administrate logistics supplier accounts from the operations perspective, ensuring payments are made and services are provided on-time according to defined SLAs.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
Executes freight cost analysis, identifying opportunities for freight optimization (modal, ground versus air versus ocean, express versus freight forwarding, supplier selection, and others).
Participates and/or leads strategic projects related to freight and transportation, implementing improvements in the process and operation that would either reduce costs or increase logistics efficiency.
Prepares studies and analysis to support financial and non-financial strategic actions related to transportation and logistics.
Develops and monitors cost and performance key performance indicators (KPIs) for logistics processes. Conducts performance review meetings with suppliers and ensures action plans are created and followed by the suppliers in case of low operational performance.
Develops transportation policies, defining which types of freight services and suppliers should be used to meet the operations requirements at the route and region level, evaluating and recommending changes to current and future logistics arrangements.
Makes on-time payments to suppliers as services are provided, analyzing invoices received and ensuring charges are in accordance with contractual conditions and agreements, as well as ensuring charged shipments belong to Embraer.
Monitors aging reports and statement of accounts on weekly or monthly basis, aiming no overdue payments and working to clear high-aging late payments.
Analyzes payment cost trends and addresses action plans to resolve deviations from plans/forecasts/targets.
Designs, implements and improves logistics and payment processes, seeking continuous reduction of processing time and increasing use of automated tools.
Enhances warehouse process workflows by analyzing and developing logistics plans that affect shipping and receiving activities.
Interfaces with internal areas such as warehouses, planning, repair management, customer contact center, procurement and finance when executing activities, scheduling meetings, conference calls to discuss aspects of the operations.
Researches and implements new technologies and procedures to enhance logistics processes.
THE AREA
The Logistics & Trade Control Americas team is responsible for the afterspanet logistics operations under the Services & Support (VSS) Business Unit, administrating the transportation operations that support the sale of spare parts and special programs (repair services) with customers and suppliers, ensuring at the same time regulatory customs compliance requirements are met for imports and exports. The area leads cost reduction initiatives, measures and controls the performance and quality of services provided by suppliers through metrics and indicators, schedule and monitors shipments, identifies and implements logistics process improvements, supports selection of suppliers and contract negotiations, administrates and making payments to suppliers, and ensures imports and exports follow customs compliance requirements.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education:
Associate Degree
Preferred: BA, BS Degree
Experience:
FLSA Exempt, Intermediate Level Individual Contributor on a functional group.
Generally 2-4 years of experience in a specialized functional discipline.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Comprehension and understanding of broad practices associated within the field assigned.
Applies these understandings in the completion of moderately complex work assignments
Knowledge of logistics and material supply processes and activities.
Aeronautical familiarization.
Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a safe and professional manner.
Ability to coordinate project schedules and other supply chain activities, including monitoring contractual compliance with logistics service providers.
Intermediate (advanced preferred) knowledge in Excel is required (pivot tables, vlookups, general data manipulations and analyses).
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Power Point).
Proficient in Internet Explorer, SAP.
