Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking a Principal Military Trainer - Integration Analyst to join our growing team of diverse professionals in Suffolk, Virginia.  The Integration Analyst will support Joint Staff J7, Joint Force Development in assessing the integration of emerging concepts across the Joint Force to inform concept development and to enhance the operational effectiveness of the current and future Joint Force. The selected candidate will provide observation, training, and feedback, focused at the operational and strategic levels, to Joint Force Commanders and their staffs during joint and multi-national training activities, exercises, and staff assist visits (SAVs). The observation, assessment, and feedback will involve the integration of emerging concepts aimed at ensuring the Joint Force is able to deter malign activity, respond to crises, and set conditions to prevail in conflict. Efforts will apply across all domains and in a globally integrated manner, focused on the priority threats identified in national strategic policy documents. The position requires knowledge of national defense strategy, theater strategy and campaigning, C2 processes at the operational and strategic levels, joint planning processes and systems, and the integration of multinational and interagency capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides supervision and leadership to the Collection Analyst team

  • Conducts interviews, collects information, develops reports, and briefs tailored analysis containing joint lessons in support of planning (real-world & training), concept implementation assessment, and execution (real-world operations)

  • Delivers, tracks, and disseminates products to support the execution of resolution actions across the DOTMLPF-P (Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership, Education, Personnel, Facilities, and Policy) spectrum in support of Joint Force Development and Design, as well as Joint Concept implementation

  • Combines joint, interagency, and multinational experience, understanding of national strategy, knowledge of CCMD operations, attention to emerging concepts, and strategic thinking to assess concept implementation and operational effectiveness across the Joint Force

  • Develops methods and means to collect and analyze data in support of the production of a periodic assessment of the development, application, and effectiveness of identified Essential Elements (EE) of emerging concepts and apply them to exercise design, execution, and feedback

  • Identifies assessment objectives, key tasks, and articulation of the desired end state; develops a detailed Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) and associated Measures of Performance (MOP) and Effectiveness (MOE) for both distributed and collective collection, analysis, and assessment on EEs associated with an event

  • Supports development of a comprehensive concept implementation Assessment Plan and identify measures of effectiveness

  • Conducts concept implementation assessment and delivers tailored analysis and assessment in both report and presentation formats

    • Tailored reports and/or presentations will be delivered for each designated event (~6/year) plus biannual assessment surveys

  • Participates in the Assessment Matrix Team (AMT) and OPG-led meetings and engage directly with relevant stakeholders and AMT leadership to better understand the scope of the assessment concept and to identify and recommend collection opportunities and plans

  • Monitors the development, application, and effectiveness of EE design, measurement, and resolution and to develop issues related to EE

Basic Qualifications:

  • One of the following:

    • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of professional and/or military leadership experience

    • Master’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of professional and/or military leadership experience

  • Thorough understanding of national strategy, policy, and decision-making

  • Experience in joint and multinational operations and/or exercises

  • Must possess executive-level analysis, assessment, and writing skills

  • Must possess an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid U.S. Passport

  • Must be willing and able to travel worldwide as needed (up to 25 of the time) to include areas considered hazardous duty

  • Must be able to work on-site in Suffolk, Virginia

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience on a 3-star or 4-star Joint or Service Headquarters staff or civilian agency equivalent.

  • Understanding of the Joint Planning Process (JPP)

  • Joint Forces Staff College (JPMEII) or Senior Service school graduate

  • Experience with the preparation and conduct of seminars or study groups for flag officers

  • Experience in the compilation and presentation in both written and oral formats of lessons learned and after-action review material

  • Experience with operational planning efforts at the operational and strategic levels

Salary Range: $75,400.00 - $113,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
