SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Safety Data Analyst supports the Safety Manager in maintaining and enhancing
Apollo MedFlights Safety Management System (SMS) through accurate data collection,
analysis, trend identification, and administrative coordination. This role emphasizes datadriven insights for safety performance monitoring, compliance documentation,
training logistics, and daily SMS operations in accordance with FAA Part 5/135
requirements—ensuring proactive hazard identification, risk mitigation support, and a
strong safety culture in air medical transport
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
• Collect, organize, and maintain safety-related data from reports, incidents, audits, metrics, and SMS platforms.
• Process and manage SMS data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely availability for analysis.
• Analyze safety data, reports, and metrics to identify trends, hazards, emerging risks, and areas for improvement.
• Perform trend tracking and preliminary data review to support hazard identification and safety performance monitoring.
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and SMS effectiveness metrics; prepare data summaries and visualizations (e.g., Excel dashboards) for review by the Safety Manager.
• Prepare reports, summaries, and data presentations on safety trends and performance to support decision-making and program assessments.
• Help maintain accurate and up-to-date safety department records, documentation, and compliance files (e.g., training completion, audit findings, regulatory documentation).
• Track training and education compliance records; monitor completion rates and report discrepancies to ensure regulatory alignment.
• Assist in data preparation for audits, regulatory reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support the Safety Manager by providing clean, analyzed data insights to inform SMS processes and risk management.
• Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in aviation administration, Safety Management, Data Analysis, Statistics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 1–3+ years in aviation safety data handling, SMS support, or analytics (air medical/helicopter operations preferred).
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (Microsoft Excel for dashboards/metrics/tracking, PowerPoint for presentations), database management, and visualization techniques.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills; quick learner adaptable to safety platforms and workflows.
• Relocation to Amarillo, TX preferred; position may require some travel.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Regular and reliable attendance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with Portside Baldwin Safety.
• Knowledge of aviation SMS (FAA Part 5/135), hazard identification, safety reporting, and regulatory compliance (FAA, OSHA).
WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
• Inside, office environment.
• Majority of workday will be spent at desk and utilizing computer software systems for data collection and analysis.
• The ability to type and use keyboard extensively.
• Frequently engage in verbal and written communication with employee management. Clear and effective communication skills are essential.
• Must be able to lift at least 10 lbs. May occasionally need to handle files, paperwork, office supplies, etc. which may involve lifting.
• Must be able to read documents, computer screens, and other materials.
• Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
• Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule when needed (evening/weekends).
