Job Title: Avionics Technician – General Aviation
Job DescriptionThis role focuses on installing, troubleshooting, and testing avionics systems on general aviation aircraft, jets, and commercial aircraft at Gwinett Airport. You will work hands-on in a hangar environment, using your mechanical aptitude and avionics expertise to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable aircraft operations while supporting a growing maintenance team.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and integrate avionics systems and components on general aviation aircraft, jets, and commercial aircraft.
- Perform detailed troubleshooting on avionics systems to identify, diagnose, and resolve malfunctions and performance issues.
- Conduct Pitot-Static testing and support IFR and VFR inspections to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
- Carry out Garmin avionics installations, upgrades, and modifications according to technical documentation and customer requirements.
- Use appropriate testing equipment to verify proper operation of avionics systems after installation, repair, or adjustment.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals to perform accurate installations and repairs.
- Document all work performed, including test results, repairs, and installations, in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians in the hangar to coordinate work, share technical knowledge, and maintain efficient workflow.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Follow all safety procedures and best practices while working in and around aircraft and hangar equipment.
Essential Skills- 3–5 years of avionics experience with a non-military aviation company (general aviation, jets, or commercial).
- Hands-on experience working on general aviation aircraft, jets, or commercial aircraft.
- Proven Garmin avionics installation experience.
- Pitot-Static testing experience, including support of IFR and VFR inspections.
- Current or eligible Repairman Certificate.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for avionics systems and components.
- Ability to read and interpret avionics wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Mechanically inclined and comfortable working with hand and power tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a hangar environment and coordinate with a team of mechanics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Prior military avionics background combined with 3–5 years of non-military aviation experience.
- Experience across multiple aircraft types, including general aviation, business jets, and commercial platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Solid communication skills to interact with team members and support clear documentation of work performed.

Work Environment
Work in a busy hangar environment at Gwinett Airport alongside a team of approximately 13 mechanics, with continued growth expected. The hangar is not climate controlled, so you should be comfortable working in varying temperatures and conditions. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, with an 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM start time and 8-hour workdays. You will work hands-on around aircraft, avionics systems, and standard aviation maintenance tools and equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lawrenceville, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $38.00/hr.
