Job Summary

 

The Avionics Technician is responsible for installing, inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing aircraft avionics systems and components. This role ensures compliance with all applicable safety and regulatory standards, supports ongoing maintenance and inspection schedules, and contributes to the operational readiness of aircraft at MHD-Rockland Services’ Keystone Heights facility.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of avionics systems including communication, navigation, radar, and flight control systems.
  • Interpret and work from wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, and blueprints.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions using specialized testing equipment.
  • Conduct functional and operational tests to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Document all maintenance and repair activities in accordance with FAA regulations and company procedures.
  • Maintain proper tools, equipment, and workspace in accordance with safety and maintenance standards.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure compliance and aircraft readiness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of avionics systems and aircraft electronics.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and wiring schematics.
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations, standards, and safety practices.
  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools, testing instruments, and repair equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an FAA-certified avionics or aircraft electronics program preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in aircraft avionics maintenance and repair required.
  • Prior military aviation experience or work on P-3 aircraft highly desirable.

Environment

  • Work is performed in a hangar, repair station, or outdoor environment exposed to various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work in confined spaces or elevated areas.
  • Use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols required.
