Job Description:

Flight Equipment Mechanic (QASO)

  • Location - PAX River, MD 

Responsibilities:

  • Work, cooperate and communicate, as directed, with supervisors, team leaders and coworkers satisfactorily.
  • Knowledgeable with Joint Satellite Tracking System (JSETS), CAD/PAD and AWIS.
  • Observe personal safety and line precautions around aircraft and workspaces.
  • Maintains ALSS equipment and gear
  • Performs required inspections on Aircrew equipment and gear
  • Participate in Ordnance Board as required
Job Requirements:

  • Observe personal safety and line precautions around aircraft and workspaces.
  • Maintains ALSS equipment and gear
  • Performs required inspections on Aircrew equipment and gear
  • Participate in Ordnance Board as required
  • Working knowledge of OOMA.
  • Possess a minimum of five years aviation experience.
  • Previously completed Parachute Rigger "A" School.
  • Work in close proximity to ordnance, must have previously qualified as Quality Assurance & Safety Observer (QA/SO).
  • Possess a working knowledge of the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) and 13 Series manuals.
  • High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance and base access

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 pounds independently.
  • Must be able to pass fit for work physical and/or drug test as required.
  • Must be able to work in areas that require awkward posturing, bending, kneeling, squatting, to include working overhead. Position requires sitting and/or standing at workbenches and wire boards 99% of the day.
  • Must be able to work at height in the hangar and on the flightline.
  • Must be able to man and perform Flightline Extinguisher duties.
  • If required must be able to pass a DOT physical and operate Powered Industrial Trucks.
  • If required must be able to pass a respiratory physical and wear a respirator for 2 - 4 hours.
  • If required must be able to perform confined space activities.
  • Position requires repetitive hand use using wire cutters, crimpers, etc. 
  • Travel may be required.
