Job Description:

The Aerospace Engineer FAE (Field Applications Engineer) performs engineering related to product and customer experiences of TEC’s aerospace products. This role is to operate, support, and develop requirements for aerospace products. Products include the existing products from ACES Systems and new onboard systems.  This position supports products in the office, at training sites, and at customer locations in the U.S. and Canada. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

The statements below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by a job incumbent. 30% - Performs product development, improvements, processes and testing. Develops training materials.
30% - Captures and processes customer requirements, supports customer engineering support needs.
35% - Supports the company on travel to customer locations for verification and custom application development.
5% - Attends meetings and seminars as requested.

Job Requirements:
  • Experience supporting flight test efforts for both fixed wing and rotary wing.
  • Experience developing and operating thorough test plans. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to diagnose system-level issues using multiple toolsets. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Must be well organized and able to multi-task. 
  • Ability to maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet company core values. 
  • Ability to keep supervisor and other team members apprised on a regular basis of all activities.
  • Operate equipment in lab.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/LICENSES

  • 4-year degree in aerospace engineering or equivalent
  • System-level hardware development experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Works at office desks: extensive computer work carrying out both manual and repetitive arm hand and finger movements in regards to computerized data processing and data entry tasks.  
  • Works in aircraft hangars: Operate in conditions expected of aviation maintenance positions like persistent standing, bending, moving around dirty aviation systems
  • May push, pull, lift or carry up to 25 pounds periodically and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally.  
  • Job may require walking or standing for brief or extended periods and may include periodic bending, stooping, crouching, and climbing.
  • Frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Dexterity to assemble mechanical, cabling, and electrical assemblies occasionally as part of prototyping designs or working with final assemblies.  
  • Mental activities necessary include critical thinking about complex design problems, analytical skills, concentration, mathematical accuracy, organizational skills, and communication skills.
  • Directly interface with public on behalf of the company
