Position Overview:
Boeing Test and Evaluation organization is seeking a highly-motivated Engineering Multi-Skill Manager – Software to lead employees performing activities on developing software solutions and develop strategies and roadmaps for innovative software solutions to manage the aircraft tests. This critical position develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and direct reports. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level leaders.
Position Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of software engineers to develop and manage multiple engineering software applications that facilitate aircraft testing activities in the lab and flight tests.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to team regarding approved processes, tools, technology and skills for own projects or processes.
- Experienced in drafting roadmaps and deriving technical strategy, Translate business information/technical requirements into an architectural blueprint.
- Understand the big picture of BT&E group and the inter-relationships of all activities in the group, identify commonalities and develop solutions that are modular, reusable, scalable and maintainable.
- Work closely with different departments within BT&E to understand the processes, current pain points and develop a roadmap on how latest Information technologies can help BT&E accelerate towards the goals of Efficiency, Effectiveness and Productivity.
- Forecast resource, skills and capability needs and makes hiring decisions. Coaches, counsels, mentors and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to improve employee performance and expand capabilities. Provides ongoing developmental feedback.
- Provide periodic updates to senior management in the form of progress reports, project summaries, and other related documents.
- Must foster an innovative work environment leading to identification of opportunities for improvements in product, process, quality, and efficiency.
- Demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Be fluent in written and spoken English, and have high degree of proficiency with MS Office tools to prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, proposals, and Statements of Work.
- Must have experience leading teams and have the ability to mentor and teach juniors and partners to accomplish project and departmental goals and objectives.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- A bachelor’s degree or higher is required.
- Bachelor or Master of Engineering degree with 12 to 15 years of related work experience in software applications development
- Demonstrated Experience in Software development for engineering applications, real-time data acquisition systems, data processing, data analysis and data recording tools
- Experience in managing Full Stack software development projects in Java/Python/NodeJS/ReactJS following complete software development life cycle from requirements, architecture, design, coding and testing
- Experience using Windows/Linux operating system for software development
- Experience in managing long-term projects with Agile software development practices
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- At least 2 years as a people manager experience is preferred
- Working in a global environment with distributed software development teams
Typical Education & Experience:
- Bachelor or Master of Engineering degree with 12 to 15 years of related work experience in Software applications development
