Engineering Technician – Structurals Carson City
PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Engineering Manager and Engineering team, the Engineering Technician performs a wide variety of support tasks, primarily for the Engineering Department. May require performing hands on support to any department in the facility. This position demands a self-starter who seeks out additional tasking, can learn quickly on the job, and can complete tasks effectively.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares a variety of reports to support process improvement efforts.
- Completes, maintains and submits engineering records and paperwork on new product development as required.
- Inspects work for quality and assists in giving instruction and feedback to operators.
- Informs Product Engineers of quality issues and assists in remedying them.
- Assists in keeping materials and product within spec.
- Aids in implementing plantwide 6S improvements.
- Provides administrative support to other departments throughout the facility.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and programs as required.
- Basic mathematics proficiency.
- Ability to read, follow and interpret instructions on technique cards, dip cards, and other verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
- Ability to work either independently or in a team environment.
- Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, twist, turn, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, kneel, stoop, bend, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience in an engineering or manufacturing role preferred.
- High School Diploma/GED required.
