The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Expert Network Designer to join the team in North Charleston, SC or Miami, FL.
We are seeking a highly skilled networking professional with deep expertise in Wide Area Networks, routing, and comprehensive Local Area Network switching, including Layer 2, Layer 3, and wireless technologies. In this role, you will apply your hands-on experience to design, implement, and optimize routing solutions that elevate network performance across the organization.
Your proficiency in advanced networking protocols and technologies such as Border Gateway Protocol, Open Shortest Path First, Multiprotocol Label Switching, Quality of Service, Software-Defined Wide Area Network, and encryption standards will be critical. With a proven track record managing large-scale, complex network infrastructures, you will drive innovation, ensure reliability, and troubleshoot challenges to keep our network running at peak efficiency. Position Responsibilities:
Design and implement scalable, high-performance Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN) and wireless solutions on both Cisco and Arista platforms
Architect network systems for large complex organization infrastructures with focus on reliability and security
Plan, design, and deploy Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks and designing systems that incorporate advanced Quality of Service (QOS) strategies and traffic shaping mechanisms
Implement and manage routing and switching technologies (e.g., Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Boundary Gateway Protocol (BGP), MPLS, etc.)
Perform troubleshooting and optimization of WAN routing configurations across multiple locations
Apply relevant encryption standards for securing data traffic across wide area networks
Work with internal teams to ensure that the network is compliant with industry standards and regulations, including implementing Virtual Private Networks (VPN) and Secure Socket Layer/Transport Layer Security (SSL/TLS) encryption protocols
Collaborate with internal teams including Information Technology (IT) security, Tech Fellow and stakeholders to align network architecture with business requirements
Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including network topology diagrams, configuration guides and capacity planning documents
Provide exceptional training and knowledge transfer to junior designers with the shared goal and desire of growing together as one team
Provide expert troubleshooting of network-related issues for LAN, WAN, wireless, and demilitarized zone (DMZ) networks
Lead the team with a “one for all, all for one” attitude
Assist in managing and owning the ticket queue for international queues and break/fix tickets to improve service restoration and meet metrics
Assist in managing the Global Service Engagement Platform (GSEP) design change request queue
Support incident resolution, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Participate in the on-call rotation schedule as part of the on-call calendar, including weekends and off-hours as needed
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
10+ years of experience with Large Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN) and Demilitarized Zone (DMZ)
10+ years of experience with Cisco wireless technologies
10+ years of experience with Quality of Service (QOS), routing and switching protocols
10+ years of experience with designing and implementing large scale network architectures, including complex routing and switching configurations
10+ years of experience with network security and implementing and managing encryption standards such as IPSec, SSL, and GETVP
10+ years of experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (Wireshark, SolarWinds, NetFlow)
10+ years of experience with Incident Management
Willing to cover on call shifts, including weekends and after hours
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Active Cisco CCIE and Arista ACE-T Certifications
Experience with network automation tools and scripting languages (python, Ansible)
Experience with problem-solving and addressing complex network issues quickly and efficiently
Experience with communication skills and collaboration with cross functional teams
