Job Summary: 

The Field Service Engineer III works with minimal supervision, applying originality, ingenuity, and established procedures to maximize product performance by addressing and resolving product issues efficiently and ensuring customer satisfaction. This role involves leading engineering design reviews, testing of products, supporting accident and root cause investigations, providing technical support and training for end users, and mentoring internal resources. The Field Service Engineer III also plays a critical role in new product integration, certification efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives.  

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Respond to and troubleshoot technical inquiries from Airline and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) customers, ensuring timely and effective resolution. 

  • Develop and deliver training materials for end users, providing both onsite and offsite training to customers 

  • Conduct detailed failure analyses, prepare comprehensive reports, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders 

  • Lead new product Entry into Service (EIS) programs, ensuring smooth integration and customer readiness. 

  • Conduct in-service evaluations, aircraft certification, and integration testing, including directing on-wing tests, monitoring and resolving complex technical issues, and providing feedback to design engineers 

  • Lead Root Cause Investigations, identifying and implementing effective solutions to address technical issues. 

  • Lead flight safety investigations, including accident investigations, preparing detailed reports, and managing inter-company communications 

  • Develop, mentor and coach internal resources  

  • Maintain detailed knowledge of CFR, FAR, SFAR’s (Federal Aviation Regulations) 

  • Maintain detailed knowledge of outside agencies such as FAA, NTSB, ICAO, JAA, EASA, and their services 

  • Support Product Development Phase (PDP) Process  

  • Participate in First Article Inspection (FAIs), Critical Design Review (CDRs), and Program Design Review (PDRs) 

  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management 

 

Non-Essential Functions: 

  • Participate in various industry symposiums, conferences and meetings 

  • Build and maintain various Product Support databases  

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Experience4+ years relevant work experience 

  • Knowledge: Working knowledge of the airline industry, airline products, airline support requirements, and regulatory requirements; Working knowledge of aircraft and shop level maintenance; Working knowledge of MS Projects; Working knowledge of Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS); Knows and applies advanced concepts, practices and procedures of assigned product or program; Familiar with a variety of the fields concepts, practices, and procedures 

  • Skills/Abilities: Proficient with MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; Demonstrated ability to plan and accomplish goals based on experience and judgment; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff and outside professionals 

  • Education/Certification: BA or BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related technical discipline; OR Associates Degree from a two-year college & 10+ years of relevant work experience  

  • Eligibility Requirement: Drivers License required; FAA sensitive position – may be subject to a government security investigation to verify eligibility for access to classified information; May be subject to random drug screens 

 

Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • FAA Certified Repairman (Airframe & Powerplant license)  

  • Foreign language knowledge  

  • Experience working in other cultures and customs  

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access and Visio; Experience with Minitab 

 

Working Conditions: 

  • Travel may be required up to 45 - must have no travel restriction

  • Standard office environment: Work requires substantial visual concentration on detail 

  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes 

  • May have special circumstances that require work at night on weekends, or on holidays; May need to be available by phone after work hours 

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing and aircraft maintenance environment 

  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE 

 

Standing: 30 *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task 

Sitting: 70 *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task 

Lifting (in pounds): up to 50 pounds 

Pushing (in pounds): up to 40 pounds 

Mental/Visual: use of computer, calculator, filing cabinets

Salary range: $116,900.00 - 139,200.00. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
