Job Summary

Cirrus Aircraft is looking for an Aircraft Personalization Designer to join our Xi Design Team. The Xi Program invites customers to personalize their aircraft and experience the art of the possible. As an Xi Designer you will be responsible for developing custom Xi design concepts, while working closely with the customer and production teams from outset through completion.

In this role you will design both the interior and exterior of Xi aircraft. This will include bespoke livery design, tailored seat upholstery and cabin material definition. You will work closely with internal and external teams to communicate new product ideas, expand the Xi material library, and continually refine the Xi design process. In addition to Xi, you will be asked to provide industrial design support for the Vision Jet and SR product lines.

To continue to make Xi and Cirrus the benchmark in general aviation, you will stay attuned to developments in the aviation and automotive industry. As Designer for the Xi Program, your design vision and aesthetic will help shape the next generation of Cirrus Aircraft.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
  • Strong communicator both visually and verbally. Must articulate design intent while being flexible to client needs.
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to design and deliver manufacturable aircraft designs.
  • Develop a clear understanding of what is feasible when designing an aircraft with a client.
  • Guide customer design sessions in an efficient manner and manage expectations along the way.
  • Attention to detail, both in design and in documentation of design work.
  • Create preliminary concepts all the way through to production ready design documents for customers.
  • Review engineering documents to ensure design intent is maintained.
  • Review paint template mock-ups and establish regular check-ins with internal team and customer during build process.
  • Review aircraft upon arrival prior to customer delivery to ensure accuracy and attend customer delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in industrial design (Automotive, Graphic, or Product Design) or equivalent work experience with design portfolio.
  • 1-3 years real-world work experience balancing design with manufacturing needs.
  • Experience working with high net-worth clientele a plus. Automotive and Aviation preferred.
  • Strong digital design tool skillset, including but not limited to Adobe CS (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), KeyShot.
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of line, proportion & use of color. Strong visual communicator.
  • Ability to show sound judgement and effective communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Ability to effectively manage stress, including competing work demands and multiple projects at the same time.
