Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for a Manager Manufacturing Engineering 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Manufacturing Engineering within the Production, Engineering, and Operations (PE&O) organization. This leadership role is located in Saint Augustine, FL.

This position is on-site in Saint Augustine, FL and cannot be performed remotely due to the nature of the role.

The Manager Manufacturing Engineer 2 will be responsible for taking the product design and converting it into a sequence of detailed assembly/ manufacturing instructions, which will include the following responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create new and modify existing assembly/ manufacturing instructions with necessary operations to support build sequence, while also including specifications/quality requirements and maintaining a bill of material (BOM)
  • Provide guidance to Design Engineering during drawing reviews regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques; and to identify any manufacturability challenges or changes required ahead of drawing release.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations and engineering specifications. You will also drive the team to support the production floor in a liaison role. These activities include answering assist calls from technicians, processing of MRB tags, performing root cause corrective action, and be responsive to keep production moving
  • Investigate and initiate corrective action to ensure product quality; resolve quality issues that arise during the build process to ensure all parts conform to the design configuration.
  • Develop tooling / fixtures to conduct the operations steps and to serve as manufacturing aids for technicians.
  • Manufacturing Engineers for Aeronautics Systems are expected to provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex and difficult problems.
  • They are problem solvers who have the ability to provide results that are innovative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to work individually as well as collaborate with a diverse group of individuals, work tactically, but with an eye towards future strategy, and exhibit solid communication skills while acting as the technical representative voice for Operations.
  • Communicating digital tools and processes to support multiple programs. This includes training and systems support.
  • Interface/communicate with multiple levels of leadership, clients, and vendors.
  • Stand up a new and existing team of 10-12 engineers to support multiple areas of the business including Tooling, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Operations and Industrial engineering.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of engineering experience OR a Masters Degree and 2 years of experience in engineering.
  • 2 years of experience leading teams and/or projects.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • STEM Degree (Science, Technical, Engineering or Mathematical)
  • Active Secret DOD clearance and Program Access.
  • Understanding of Engineering, Tooling, Production, Program Management and Global Supply Chain Subcontracts Processes.
  • Experienced in dynamic environments where here may be schedule changes, design changes and validation failures.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management and CAM.
  • Must have a complete understanding of aircraft operations and maintenance as well as a through knowledge of aircraft scheduling.
  • Experience working hands-on in a production assembly line environment.
  • Experience providing innovative techniques focused on improving product designs and tooling assemblies or equipment.
  • Complex assembly or composite experience and process knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Digital Transformation movement within the aerospace and defense industry.

Salary Range: $108,400 - $162,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
