Job Description

We are looking for you to join our team as a Systems Engineering Manager 1, based out of Huntsville, AL.   Systems Engineering Management responsibilities include day-to-day communications, performance assessment and feedback, career counseling, professional development, employee succession planning, employee rewards and recognition, conflict resolution and resolving personnel issues for approximately 5-10 direct reports.  This role will have an average of 20 management responsibilities and 80 program responsibilities. Program responsibilities include, responsibility for developing and implementing systems engineering product updates that best meet changing customer needs on a Space Systems Missile Defense Integration (MDI)  Business Unit Program for Missile Defense Agency (MDA) National Team.

Basic Qualifications:

• 5 years of experience with a Bachelors’ degree in Systems Engineering or STEM discipline; 3 years of experience with a Masters’ degree in Systems Engineering or STEM discipline

• Active secret clearance required

• Working experience or foundational knowledge in People and Technical Leadership roles

• Working knowledge of Staffing, Engineering Metrics and Training resources, processes, and tools

• Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS

• Experience with requirements decomposition and tracing to verification events

• 2+ years of experience with requirements decomposition

• Verification experience or knowledge

• Knowledge and experience using CAMEO and/or Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Principles

• Familiarity with Agile software development using tools like Jira, Confluence, Fisheye/Crucible, and Bitbucket 

• Business Acumen: The ability to apply knowledge, insights and understanding of business and financial concepts, tools, and processes to the benefit of program decisions, actions, and performance

• Demonstrated customer interface skills

• Demonstrated large-team organizational and communication skills

• Demonstrated executive communication, presentation, and collaboration skills

• Resource planning and staffing to plan

• Understanding of the Systems Engineering V-Model

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a STEM discipline

• Military Experience

• INCOSE or System Engineering certification

• MDA Knowledge

• Demonstrated independent planning, organization, and working in cross-functional teams with a customer focus

• Experience effectively leading diverse technical teams across multiple locations.

• Current Security+ certification 

Primary Level Salary Range: $127,000.00 - $190,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
