Ruggedized Electronics Packaging

We are hiring a Mechanical Engineer in Sterling Heights, MI to support development of advanced ruggedized electronics packaging and military vehicle hardware systems for mission-critical defense applications. This role requires expertise in electronics packaging design, environmentally sealed chassis development, thermal analysis, shock and vibration analysis, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), EMI mitigation, CAD modeling, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) supporting next-generation armored combat and electronic systems platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Support new program initiatives and the design/development of electronic hardware products, including requirements analysis, mechanical modeling, and documentation release.
- Create and release mechanical drawings/models in Teamcenter.
- Perform mechanical analysis, including dimensional stack-up, thermal analysis, shock/vibration analysis, and FEA.
- Support fabrication, assembly, integration, and design validation of prototype units.
- Participate in mechanical design reviews and documentation peer reviews across programs.
- Conduct technology research, feasibility assessments, and detailed hardware design requirements definition.
- Support legacy products by developing engineering corrective actions and change requests.
- Develop and maintain hardware technical records and work product documentation in accordance with department processes.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, if required.
- Minimum of 5 years of applicable mechanical engineering experience.
- Experience with ruggedized electronics packaging, circuit card assemblies, harness assemblies, environmentally sealed chassis design, and EMI mitigation.
- Experience with GD&T, drafting standards, drawing release, and coordination with external partners.
- Experience with dynamic shock/vibration analysis, Finite Element Analysis, and damping methods.
- Familiarity with thermal analysis, tolerance stack analysis, CAD modeling, mechanical simulation, design optimization, prototyping, implementation, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
- Familiarity with Military Standards and test requirements.
- Experience with CAD/modeling and simulation tools such as Creo PTC, NX, Altair SimLab, and Teamcenter.
