The NGP5 Prototype Engine Owner will lead and manage the engine test campaign from the systems perspective through all aspects of test planning/preparation for a prototype engine test for a new centerline engine. This role is within our Edison Works organization.Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Roles and Responsibilities
- Cost and schedule planning for engine test, including proposals
- Test Plan- Create comprehensive test strategy, type, quantity, hardware
- Test Development- Lead multi-discipline team to develop test points, instrumentation, process and success criteria
- Lead or develop parts list considering test objectives, hardware quality and part life
- Create, review and approve requirement documents to “doing” organizations
- Monitor and influence outside organizations to support test schedule
- Lead reviews defining hardware configuration, instrumentation and detailed test plans
- Onsite test support to ensure test requirements are met and approve test deviations
- Author reports detailing test activities, results and to provide qualification substantiation
- Provide technical and program management leadership
- Develop collaborative solutions working across horizontal support organizations
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments
- Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks
- Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
- 5 years of relevant experience in gas turbine engines
- This role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold US Government Security Clearance
