Responsibilities
- Provides functional and empirical analysis related to the planning, design, installation, and implementation of the network infrastructure.
- Performs maintenance of file servers and network devices including the restoration of hardware and software.
- Anticipates and mitigates potential attacks through network or other connections to ensure the security of the system.
- Works with end users and vendors to resolve network hardware and software issues.
- May develop and administer end-user training to achieve efficient utilization of LAN/WAN.
- Reviews progress and evaluate results. Performs work under minimal supervision.
- Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years experience in network security solutions: Cisco ASA, NGFW, IDS, IPS, Content Filtering, RADIUS, TACACS, 802.1X, and VPN.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in network design and support in Cisco networking environment.
- Hands-on experience implementing and administering network devices, setting and maintaining policies and rights/security within the environment for devices such as Cisco Firewalls, Cisco Network switches (IOS and NX-OS), Cisco ISR, Cisco VPN, Cisco Wireless Controllers and Access Points.
- Extensive skills designing, configuring and troubleshooting enterprise routing protocols including OSPF, BGPv4, and MPLS/BGP, QoS policies and priority queuing, VLANs, IP SLA & Netflow network management.
- Demonstrated strong infrastructure design, configuration, test, and troubleshooting abilities. Extensive skills in developing, debugging, maintaining, and documenting programs and scripts used to manage network infrastructure (i.e. Python).
- Ability to prioritize and multitask among various projects.
- Has willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge of emerging technologies and industry best practices. Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop project plans, define goals and budget within the network and telecom space. Identifies resources needed and can coordinate other engineers to accomplish large complex enterprise scale deployments.
- Capacity to define procedures, work instructions or other methods for sharing knowledge and achieving consistent results.
- A minimum of 4-year degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
- A minimum of an Associate level certification from the network vendor. (i.e. Cisco Certified Network Associate)
