Purpose of job: To lead the design and integration of electrical systems for our complex maritime
products. You&8217;ll be responsible for delivering robust, safe, and compliant electrical
solutions across sonar, autonomous systems, and submarine product areas. This role
involves technical leadership, hands-on design, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
You&8217;ll guide a team of engineers and work closely with mechanical, software, and systems
teams to produce a range of exciting and varied products - including autonomous surface
platforms, control systems for electric handling systems, distributed data acquisition
systems, and underwater vehicles.

Qualifications and skills

? Experience with electrical CAD tools
? Experience with CE/UKCA directives, EMC, electrical safety, and relevant standards
? Design for cost, testability, manufacturability
? System-level integration and debugging
? Familiarity with PLCs, motor control, and industrial automation is a plus
? Able to mentor, coach and develop more junior members of the team in order to develop overall capability

Challenges

Solving complex electrical integration issues across multidisciplinary teams

Ensuring designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements

Maintaining and developing design data packs
Key accountabilities may include
?
Lead the design and development of electrical systems for complex maritime systems
?
Define system architectures, select components, and ensure compliance with safety and EMC standards
?
Produce and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable assemblies
?
Support integration and commissioning activities
?
Conduct design reviews and ensure technical accuracy across documentation and specifications
?
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to capability development
?
Collaborate with suppliers and customers to resolve technical challenges
