The Principal Coatings Manufacturing Engineer will lead Vapor Phase Aluminide (VPA) Coating processes within our advanced aerospace manufacturing operations at the Asheville, NC site.  This role will be responsible for driving process excellence, implementing best practices, supporting production needs, qualifying new equipment, and leading continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Will Do:

• The candidate will demonstrate technical project management, interpersonal and team skills, as well as strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing business requirements.
• Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for the VPA coating process, ensuring adherence to specifications, standards, and customer requirements.
• Develop, document, and implement best practices to ensure repeatability, reliability, and high yield across VPA operations.
• Provide technical support to resolve production issues, address nonconformances, and maintain throughput.
• Lead structured problem solving activities using RCCA tools and methodologies to address quality, yield, and equipment issues.
• Drive initiatives focused on OEE, FPY, and cost reduction while ensuring compliance with quality requirements.
• Lead procurement of new equipment and supporting systems
• Lead part and equipment qualifications
• Provide coaching and guidance to engineers, technicians, and operators on process fundamentals, troubleshooting, and best practices.
• Assist in MRL (Manufacturing Readiness Level) of new process to align with program requirements
• Pursue operational excellence as subject matter expert for next generation coating processes; Drive product cost reduction and ensure targets are achieved through data driven process improvements and deployment of new technologies. 

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field required and minimum 8 years engineering experience in aerospace coatings, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.
• Strong background in VPA coatings.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Six Sigma green belt or equivalent.
• Project management experience.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
