This role will be based in Des Plaines, Illinois, USA and responsible for technical direction within our Advanced Tech portfolio with the main accountability of leading the development of life support technologies for space, marine, and terrestrial applications. In this senior level role, you will manage a variety of projects and programs with a global cross-functional team to deliver prototypes and products to Honeywell strategic customers. In addition, you will be highly involved in technical and business discussions to define technical and product roadmaps with internal business/engineering groups. You will be the point of contact for external customers. You are expected to proactively engage their business team, secure new opportunities, and ensure project deliverables are met.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage defense and commercial programs across Honeywell sites within the US, including life support systems, hypersonic and thermal management, and space related with portfolio value of >$100M
- Oversee technical and financial performance of each program and partner with engineering program office to provide program direction
- Seek new business opportunities with strategic customers to advance technologies that meet customer financial and technical metrics
- Identify technical experts to ensure that low TRL technology ideas are generated and integrated into the pipeline to achieve TRL 6 and transition to development/commercialization
- Engage with business and engineering teams to define technical roadmap and align with product roadmap
- Manage technical and financial risk and generate mitigation plan as needed
- Mentor team members to manage projects and secure internal and external fundings
Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
- More than10 years of experience in managing programs with various scales from lab to production developing technologies for aerospace applications
- Proven records in product delivery with customers
- Extensive experience in securing government fundings, such as NASA and/or DARPA
- Established engagements and interactions with government agencies

- PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- Experience leading cross-functional international engineering teams
- Demonstrated ability to foster strong relationships with commercial and government customers
- Strong understanding of fundamentals of life support systems, materials, hypersonic, and thermal management, R&D background and track record of developing new advanced technologies for defense and commercial applications
- Expertise on separation technologies, materials, coating materials and processes, chemical characterization, laboratory chemical process design
- Ability to develop & deliver high impact presentations both internally and externally including effectively managing the customer interface
- Action-oriented, self-starting approach with ability to decompose overall goals into detailed action plans
- Proven track record of technology development through patents, publications, etc.
- Technical experience with expanding roles of leadership and accountability
- Highly enthusiastic with a commitment to excellence
- Possessing the sense of urgency and drive to achieve results
- Track record of meeting technical, schedule and budget commitments
- Work effectively across geographic and cultural boundaries
- Able to positively influence others, and resolve conflicts quickly and tactfully
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The annual base salary range for this position is $173k - $216k. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. This position is incentive plan eligible.
