Job Title: Principal Quality Engineer
Type: 12month contract
Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Onsite requirement: 37hrs a week
Job Overview:
Our client BAE Systems is seeking a skilled and experienced Quality Engineer to join their Quality Function at BAE Systems. In this role, you will ensure that the Business Unit remains compliant with the local Quality Business Management System, provide guidance to junior team members, and lead key quality assurance activities. You will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of tasks across Quality Assurance, Supplier Quality, and Quality Improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct specialist quality activities following relevant processes and procedures.
- Lead internal audits and support supplier audits.
- Manage non-conformance issues and drive corrective actions with stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Conduct quality investigations and analyse data to drive continuous improvement.
- Participate in cross-functional working groups to capture and apply Learning from Experience (LfE).
- Support certification activities and deliver on quality objectives.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of ISO 9001/EN9100 standards, Business Management Systems, and product safety.
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies such as Fishbone, 5 Whys, and Six Sigma.
- Strong ability to interpret specifications, procedures, and contract requirements.
- HNC or degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Lead auditor status or equivalent quality professional experience.
Safety and SHE Responsibilities:
The role requires maintaining high standards for safety, health, and environment (SHE) practices. You will cooperate with company policies, follow all training and instructions, and ensure hazards or incidents are reported promptly.
