Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Huntsville, AL.

Position Overview:

The selected Principal Software Engineer responsibilities will include the support of the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program.  You will be responsible for developing software to automate testing that is required to produce test artifacts for verification for the system.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 Years Experience with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years Experience with Masters; 1 Year with PhD.
• Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) - software design requirements, application development, integration, testing, and deployment
• Recent software development experience using Python
• Recent experience in software development related to Test Automation
• Experience/Exposure to Test Automated GUI driven tools – Eggplant specifically
• Experience working in an Agile environment using Jira, Confluence, Crucible, Bitbucket, Subversion, Bamboo, Jenkins, Sonarqube, Fortify, or Coverity
• Proven ability to work across product teams to produce program level solutions
• Applicants must be able to work full-time onsite as this is not a remote position.
• Ability and willingness to travel 10 to support business needs.
• Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.

• Experienced leader in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Proven communications skills - Ability to collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers and integration/test engineers at all levels
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
• Security + certified
• Trusted User certified
• GMD/MDA Experience
• Missile Defense Experience

Primary Level Salary Range: $105,400.00 - $158,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
