Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Combat Air Force (CAF) Disturbed Training Center (DTC) at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA working for the Distributed Mission Operations Network (DMON) Team based out of Orlando, FL. The qualified applicant will be well versed in all technical aspects of information systems, security policies and compliance requirements in classified computing environments. The primary responsibility of the position is to support interoperability of CAF DTC Computer Generated Forces (CGF) systems and simulation support applications in DMON events by identifying configuration, networking, or CAF DMO standards issues. The applicant must be able to analyze, design and document changes to configurations, processes, and procedures for issue resolutions. Additionally, the applicant will support daily activities, operational and test events which requires schedule flexibility.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Operation and troubleshooting of developed systems
  • Documentation of new and existing processes
  • Monitoring, controlling and isolating problems in a data communications network
  • Provide first and/or second-level problem determination and provide needed support
  • Provides responsive quality customer service and support at all times for internal customers as well as external customers at the sites and DMON stakeholders
  • Functions as a member of the DTC System Admin and Information Assurance staff for problem escalation and resolution as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typical Minimum Education / Experience: 5 Years with bachelor’s in science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 with PhD
  • US Citizenship with an Active Secret or Top Secret DoD security clearance and eligibility for Tier 1 access
  • Meet DoD 8570 Certifications Requirements (e.g. Security+ Certification, and/or CISSP) Familiarity with network hardware including but not limited to Cisco switches, routers, boundary protection (firewalls, intrusion protection devices/intrusion detection devices, etc.) and various other network managed devices
  • Knowledge of the Risk Management Framework
  • Good understanding of network protocols
  • Proficient in basic network troubleshooting
  • Familiar with Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), High Level Architecture (HLA), and/or Test and Training Enabling Architecture (TENA) protocols
  • Demonstrated success working individually or as part of a team requiring little supervision
  • Ability to travel, 10 or less, both domestically and internationally

  Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) events
  • Military Aviation or Operations Experience
  • Experience operating and configuring virtualized environments, VMware, ESXi, thin client configuration, and/or virtual machines
  • Strong understanding and use of networking principles and command line interface (Network+ and/or CCNA)
  • Experience capturing network traffic and conducting packet analysis
  • Experience with security architectures, firewalls, and network security controls.
  • Experience in Sysml environment and strong understanding of CAMEO, DOORS, etc
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Experience in modeling and simulation environment.
  • Experience with Computer Generated Forces (CGF) applications
  • Experience in Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop Operating System installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and security processes & procedures
  • Experience with software development
Salary Range: $97,500 - $146,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
