Core Manufacturing Engineering in the Operational Excellence organization is hiring a Product Manufacturing Engineer to led Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) elements in support manufacturing readiness for Pratt & Whitney’s 6th Generation war fighter propulsion system.

The Product Manufacturing Engineer will be integrated with the Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams and will act as the liaison between engineering, program, and operations. They will lead a specific part or part family MRL advancement through the execution of MRL elements such as Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), yield & cost curves, and Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) trade tools to identifying and mitigating manufacturing and operational risk. The scope of this role will include both Pratt & Whitney internal shop and supply chain components.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in a high technology, advanced program environment incorporating the latest manufacturing readiness assessment tools. The ideal candidate will be an experience, proactive, and goal oriented professional to lead MRL execution on critical parts. This resource will have a key role in refining and improving MRL standard work as it applies to early phase programs.

What You Will Do:

  • With specific parts ownership, this role will drive producibility into the design process, ensure source selection includes considerations for manufacturing such as, quality, cost and delivery performance
  • Leverage the lessons learned from production programs to ensure that development parts are incorporating those to help with improved quality, cost and delivery signatures
  • Provide focused & effective leadership in the advancement of MRL elements to drive manufacturing risk identification and mitigation to achieve superior quality performance
  • As a key member of the Integrated Product Team (IPT), significant interaction with product designers, tool designers, quality assurance, systems designers, and other stakeholders is required
  • The discipline and follow-through to fully document problem statements, observations, conclusions, calculations and recommendations
  • Schedule and facilitate periodic project reviews and ensure validation of MRL gate advancements. Use effective scorecards and metrics to ensure progress.
  • Represent the organization in various forums related to MRL execution.
  • Travel up to 10.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (manufacturing, industrial, mechanical) or related technical field and 10 years of experience in a manufacturing operations environment or Masters degree and 7 years advanced degree.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in complex manufacturing activities.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Holds a current U.S government issued Security Clearance or have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • CORE/Six Sigma Practitioner/professional certification.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement concepts: DFSS, Red-X, Lean, etc.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in complex manufacturing activities.
  • Able to use Minitab and other statistical software.
  • Proficiency in statistics, data analytics, DOE, and multivariate statistics.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
