Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for a Quality Engineer or a Principal Quality Engineer with experience in quality, manufacturing and production to join our team in Sykesville, MD. This role will be responsible for working in the cell of the HP&S Program.
Responsibilities:
Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements. May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
Basic Qualifications for a Quality Engineer:
- Bachelors of Science Degree in a STEM related field with a minimum of 2 years of quality, manufacturing or relevant experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
- US citizenship required
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Quality Engineer:
- Bachelors of Science Degree in a STEM related field with a minimum of 5 years of quality, manufacturing or relevant experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
- US citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with dispositioning hardware for quality related issues in a manufacturing facility.
- Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) process.
- Experience with electrical or mechanical design requirements and specifications.
- Experience supporting Configuration Control Board.
- Working knowledge of SAP, ISE and CADSTAR.
- Familiarity and/or experience in support of proposals and quoting of Quality hours in bids.
- Green/Black Belt Certified in Lean Six-sigma.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel, Tableau or equivalent tools for statistical analysis.
- Experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) techniques.
- Experience with ISO9001 Quality Management System.
- Strong working knowledge of Factory processes and procedures across the entire factory.
- Ability to work in and lead cross-functional teams to resolve problems or issues.
- Experience on Government contracts.
- Evidence of excellent time management, presentation, and negotiation skills
Salary Range: $75,700 - $113,500
Salary Range 2: $93,000 - $139,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
