We are looking for an exceptional Sr. Advanced System Engineer with an Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering background to work with a talented team of scientists, engineers, and technicians developing the next generation of products and technology for Honeywell Aerospace Technology’s Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) business. You will leverage your technical experience and skills to investigate and solve challenging technical problems as you develop and apply to UAS and AAM platforms next-generation avionics, actuation, flight control, environmental control, propulsion, and other technologies and products. You will use and develop your leadership skills to execute engineering programs in an Agile Scrum environment, collaborating with engineers, program managers, and product owners with the team and across the organization. Through extensive collaboration with customers and broader engineering teams, you will grow your engineering and business skills, gain deep understanding of the nascent AAM and UAS spanets, and become a leader in technologies critical to these spanets’ development.
Responsibilities
- Develop and negotiate technical requirements, evaluate Honeywell Aerospace products and technologies, and recommend and then execute integration and product enhancement plans for UAS and AAM customers.
- Assist product development teams for avionics, actuation, environmental control, flight control, and other UAS & AAM technologies, bringing critical new capabilities to the associated product lines.
- Help drive FAA/EASA/CAA certification processes and documentation, maximizing effectiveness while minimizing artifact generation time and labor.
- Champion Model Based System Engineering (MBSE), automated test development and execution, automated artifact generation and review assistance, and other technologies that can result in step-change improvements to development, verification and certification times.
- Design, prototype, and debug electronics, mechanical and system level UAS and AAM components, systems, and test capabilities.
Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s Degree in electrical, mechanical, robotics engineering or related technical field, significant experience in engineering or R&D
- At least 5 years of overall engineering/R&D experience
- Demonstrated design / prototype / debug and troubleshooting expertise

- Master’s degree in science, engineering or related technical field
- Experience with avionics, communications, flight control, actuation, and/or propulsion technologies and spanets
- Experience with safety standards, processes, and personnel
- Experience with aviation airworthiness certification processes and terminology
- Technical project leadership experience

- Experience at a UAS or AAM aircraft developer
