Location: Broad Oak, full time onsite

Rate: 50.79 ph PAYE (58.17 inclusive of holiday pay) or 67.02 Umbrella

Role Description
- Work to support Archerfish, an expendable mine neutraliser or single shot mine disposal system. It is capable of overcoming the threat of modern mines which have become increasingly resistant to traditional methods of mine disposal.
- Under limited technical supervision apply experience to design & develop solutions, resolve engineering issues and problems for a range of software products as part of a 70 strong software team within the Product & Training Services area of BAE Systems Maritime Services.
- Work with a requirements set to produce and test a documented solution.
Core Duties
The role holder will undertake some or all of the following tasks :-
- Software design, code, simulation, test, and integration.
- Design verification using a combination of simulation, analysis, and test techniques.
- Generate design documentation and technical reports.
- Interfacing with related disciplines.
- Assist the development of higher level system designs.
- Assist the development of technical requirement specifications
- Support system integration activities
Key Skillset
Essential
- Have considerable experience of using at least one high level programming language Knowledge and experience of C and C++ required.
- Knowledge of both Linux and Windows O/S.
- Knowledge of VxWorks is desirable.
- Have considerable experience of using a high level design methodology (e.g. UML)
- Have experience of all aspects of a software lifecycle and good knowledge of software lifecycle models (e.g. Waterfall, Agile)
- Have good knowledge of appropriate software standards (e.g. ISO/IEC/IEE 12207)
- Have a comprehensive understanding of configuration management and experience of a configuration management tool.
Desirable
- Knowledge of ClearCase
- An understanding of model based techniques
