Design the Code Behind Mission-Critical SystemsPDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Sr. Staff Embedded Software Engineer to support advanced aerospace and defense initiatives. As a key technical leader, you’ll be responsible for designing and delivering sophisticated embedded software systems used in missile defense, aviation, and next-generation weapons technologies.
In this role, you’ll lead full lifecycle software development efforts—from architecture and integration to testing and field support—bringing mission-critical systems to life with accuracy, security, and reliability.
What You’ll DoDevelop and support embedded software products, working from technical specifications to functional applications.
Perform deep technical analysis, problem resolution, and operational integration of real-time software systems.
Maintain, debug, and optimize performance of embedded systems used in defense applications.
Collaborate with SEIT teams to translate high-level system requirements into effective software design and architecture.
Drive concepts of operation (CONOPS), external interface definitions, and system sequences.
Design algorithms and author technical documentation including software designs, use cases, and functional design specs.
Contribute to proposal efforts and long-term product strategy.
Basic QualificationsBachelors degree in a STEM discipline with 12+ years of experience, Master’s with 10+, or PhD with 8+.
Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Proficient in C programming and object-oriented design.
Full software development lifecycle experience: requirements, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
Experience integrating firmware/software into complex, multi-threaded real-time embedded systems.
Strong knowledge of RTOS design, secure coding, and ARM architecture.
Proficient with Agile development tools: Git, Bitbucket, Jira.
Must hold or be eligible to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret security clearance.
Preferred QualificationsExperience in missile defense systems: launch, targeting, or fire control.
In-depth knowledge of hardware/software integration and testing methodologies.
Hands-on experience with missile or system-level testing.
Familiarity with PowerPC, FPGA development (VHDL/Verilog), and real-time system constraints.
Strong communication and leadership skills for effective collaboration in cross-functional environments.

Pay Details: $49.85 to $63.09 per hour
