Powerback Systems Engineer (FUPP) - Modeling & Simulation Focus

Contract Position

Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. As a prime mover in ground force capabilities, this firm provides innovative solutions that ensure the safety and effectiveness of military personnel worldwide, focusing on durability, mobility, and performance.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, release, and modeling/simulation of Full Up Powerpack (FUPP) components—including conventional, hybrid-electric, and fully electric configurations—for advanced military vehicle programs.

• Design and Development Tasks:

  • Evaluate powertrain system architectures, including engines, transmissions, MGUs, cooling, air handling, and final drive components.

  • Collaborate with suppliers on module/component development and integration.

  • Execute end-to-end design responsibility from component to assembly-level.

  • Work cross-functionally with IPT leads, systems engineers, logistics, manufacturing, and other key stakeholders.

  • Support technical reviews, milestone readiness (internal/external), and program reporting activities.

  • Follow company-defined release processes to ensure compliant Technical Data Package (TDP) delivery.

• Modeling and Simulation Tasks:

  • Develop and tune simulation models for hybrid systems, torque blending, energy optimization, and fuel efficiency.

  • Build thermal and battery management simulations for power electronics and propulsion components.

  • Perform multidomain modeling of engine, e-machine, battery, and electronic subsystems.

  • Contribute to the development of scalable, reusable simulation toolsets for evolving powertrain architectures.

Qualifications:

• Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
• Simulation experience using Matlab/Simulink required.
• PLM experience using TeamCenter required.
• CREO experience required, other CAD packages are a plus.
• 10+ years of direct or related experience is ideal.
• Proven history in the development, correlation, operation and maintenance of analytical toolsets.
• Experience in interrogation and manipulation using 3D Modeling software.
• Experience preferred on commercially available and proprietary simulation software.
• Automotive and Heavy-Duty vehicle experience required. Military land vehicle experience preferred.
• Excellent analytical skills to appropriately size subsystems and components.
• Experience in interrogation and manipulation of data hosted by CAD software
• GD&T expertise a plus.
• Powertrain electrification experience a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.
• Mind-set to work collaboratively in a team environment for program success.
• Proven skills in the development of technical documents and oral communication.
• Must be a US Person and be able to secure a a security clearance.
