The Test Engineer at GE Aerospace will support engine cores, full turbo-shaft/prop engine, turbine component, and combustion rig tests within the Test Systems Engineering (TSE) team. Focused on performance, compressor mapping, icing, and other engineering missions, the role involves partnering with various teams to understand program requirements, manage budgets and schedules, and translate requirements into deliverables. Key responsibilities include managing development engines and technology component rig tests through all stages, driving GE’s test capability, and ensuring high-quality test data. Requires strong communication, project management, previous test experience, and knowledge of test procedures, with opportunities for autonomous work and mentorship.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support engine core, turbo-shaft/prop engine, turbine component, and combustion rig tests in the Test Systems Engineering (TSE) team.
  • Focus on test objectives: performance, compressor mapping, icing, and engineering missions under various conditions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Systems, Operations, and Design teams to:
    • Understand program requirements
    • Develop/manage budgets and schedules
    • Relay requirements to Test and Supply Chain departments
    • Translate requirements into deliverables
  • Manage development engines and technology component rig tests:
    • Planning
    • Hardware receiving
    • Instrumentation
    • Assembly
    • Data systems setup
    • Test site integration
    • Test execution
  • Enhance GE’s test capabilities, facilities, and data collection.
  • Require strong communication, project management, previous test experience, and test procedure knowledge.
  • Operate with occasional autonomy, with guidance and mentorship from senior engineering teammates.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in an Engineering field from an ABET university or college
  • At least 1 additional year of experience in an Engineering position such as Co-op/Internship
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance at the Secret level or higher

Desired Characteristics:

  • Self-motivated and driven
  • Knowledge of fulfillment, assembly, instrumentation, and test disciplines
  • Familiarity with the TSE Department Sections and Sub-Sections
  • Engine and Component Rig test experience
  • Experience with finance and scheduling tools, Open plan, Clarity, Spotfire
  • Established project management skills and ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Very strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to influence small team and across functions
  • Experience working with DoD and/or Commercial customer and processes
  • Active DoD Security Clearance at the Secret level or higher
