Job Description:

(Overview of Job):

Our Tool Designers are accountable for designing Jigs & Fixtures for use in aircraft assemblies, sub-assemblies and tools for detail parts. These designs assist in the manufacturing process to ensure that our aircraft build conforms to the Type Design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design assembly fixtures; rubber press form blocks; welding jigs; check fixture, gauges, and any other tools used to support production activity
  • Develop and maintain a record of materials, detailed assembly & component drawings
  • Review designs and drawings from peers and provide feedback
  • Create 3D parametric CAD models of tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges using SolidWorks
  • Monitor and control tool development process from concept to release into production
  • Ensure compliance with applicable specifications and standards
  • Communicate and coordinate internally and with our vendors
  • Capable of supporting multiple projects at different stages of maturity
  • Perform any other related project or task as required

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in tooling design
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied sciences and or a Tech Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have experience in Solidworks parametric design including complex assemblies
  • Proficient in interpretation of drawings

Conditions:

  • Shift work will be required based on company requirements
  • Work to be performed in noisy and often warm production areas, including working with chemicals — all PPE is required at all times
  • Occasionally required to lift heavy objects up to 40 lbs
  • This position requires the ability to walk, stand and sit for long periods of time
  • Eyesight must be sufficient to be able to read fine print and blueprint details
