Responsibilities
The Director, Division Finance serves as the key financial partner between the operational divisions and the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team in a dynamic, fast-paced commercial airline environment. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing a team of Division Controllers and ensuring accurate budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis across operating and capital expenditures. The Director will guide strategic financial planning, enhance financial performance, and ensure alignment with corporate goals.
- Lead and mentor a team of Division Controllers responsible for financial oversight of individual operating divisions
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance team
- Oversee the development, review, and consolidation of divisional operating budgets and capital plans
- Partner with divisional leadership to update and refine financial forecasts throughout the fiscal year
- Evaluate business performance, identify variances, and recommend actions to improve financial outcomes
- Act as the primary liaison between FP&A and operational divisions, ensuring financial insights support operational decision-making
- Provide analytical support for key Opex and Capex projects, including ROI and cost-benefit analyses
- Guide divisions in financial prioritization and resource allocation
- Present financial results, trends, and recommendations to senior leadership and FP&A
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of divisional performance metrics
- Oversee divisional accounting entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting policies and standards
- Collaborate with the FP&A and Accounting teams to support month-end and year-end close processes
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and corporate financial policies
- Support corporate initiatives through financial modeling, scenario analysis, and strategic planning
- Participate in cross-functional projects, offering financial expertise to improve business outcomes.
- May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g. emergencies change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Finance and/or Accounting
- 8-10 years’ experience
- MSF or MBA with Finance Concentration preferred
- Advanced professional credential (e.g., CPA, CMA, CFA, PMP) is preferred
Domestic & International travel under 10 of time
Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
Specialized Skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis within a complex, matrixed organization; aviation or transportation industry experience preferred
- Experience with SAP Financials or other large ERP systems
Strong financial planning and financial modeling experience required
Advanced understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
