The right person for this role should have 6-9 years of work experience in accounting and finance with a Bachelor’s degree or 4-7 years with a Master’s degree. Prior financial experience with a government contractor and project accounting preferred. Competence in financial and bookkeeping software is required. Proficient knowledge of spreadsheets is crucial.
Key duties and responsibilities of a Program Financial Analyst Contractor L3 include:
- Responsible for providing high quality business partnering and accurate, actionable financial analysis and insight to Program Managers
- Consolidate data and information from many sources into an integrated financial/business picture that management can utilize and act on.
- Performs transaction research, analysis, and prepares financial reports.
- Perform journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate revenue recognition in compliance with established accounting policy.
- Analyze and validate actual contract performance against forecast.
- Prepare contract billings and assist with forecasting cash receipts.
A successful Program Financial Analyst Contractor L3 will have a mix of organizational and analytical skills. They should be able to work with numbers, generate reports and find discrepancies as well as cost-saving opportunities. Other qualifications may include:
- Strong competency with ERP accounting systems and process; experience with Deltek Cost Point and Cobra is preferred.
- Working knowledge of accounting theory and GAAP
- Data entry skills
- Comfortable with math, calculations, and reconciliation
- Must have strong listening and communication skills
- Must have meticulous attention to detail
- Must be a self-starter with capability to be achieve a high level of productivity remotely
- Must have strong organization and time management skills
- Must be good at identifying and resolving problems
- Must be a team player willing to contribute to overall team objectives.
- Able to explain and troubleshoot financial issues with non-finance professionals.
