Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Schedules, prepares and maintains Initial Training, Recurrent Training, and Requalification Training classes and assigned personnel.
  • Manages daily operation, including covering open shifts, adjusting schedules, and coordination with hotels, transportation, and other departments.
  • Coordinates with Manager to ensure daily in-person coverage during any period where training events are held, including weekends and holidays.
  • Coordinates both trainee and Instructor travel, including coordination during irregular operations in regard to training events
  • Supervises new hire Flight Attendants throughout the training program, including counseling and discipline.
  • Supervises new hire Initial Training / Recurrent Training Instructors, providing counseling and feedback to improve the effectiveness of both the instructor and program.
  • Coordinates Training schedule with guest speakers and vendors; adjusts standard schedule as necessary.
  • Ensures resources are confirmed and meet standards, including classroom space, aircraft, and training equipment.
  • Oversees the facilitation of published, approved curriculum as well as oral and written exams for Flight Attendant training.
  • Administers and records audits of Inflight Instructor delivery and approved curriculum.  Conduct follow up education and training to formulate training enhancements.
  • Administers ongoing distance learning curriculum for Initial/Recurrent Training, including scheduling courses and the recording and paying of events.
  • Trains all carrier programs and conducts question and answer sessions with crewmembers.
  • Maintains currency of Inflight guides and documentation.
  • Mentors and assists Inflight Instructors in developing the competencies required for the Inflight Training Supervisor position. Partners with Manager to learn the responsibilities and role of the Manager position.
  • Has the ability to complete Flight Attendant Training and maintain qualifications by successfully completing all Company required training.
  • Screens, interviews and makes recommendations for hiring potential employees.
  • Coaches and provides leadership, direction, motivation and supervision of direct reports.
  • Appraises performance, provides performance feedback, takes corrective actions, and oversees training and development of staff.
  • Fosters the Company’s core values and culture throughout the work environment.
  • Delegation of Duties: To ensure managerial continuity is maintained when the Inflight Training Supervisor is absent from the workplace, duties shall be delegated to the Inflight Training Manager. If the Inflight Training Manager is absent from the workplace, some duties shall be delegated to the Inflight Training Supervisor.
  • Serves as a Training Instructor as needed to support company objectives.
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned or required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.

  • High School Diploma or GED, with at least 1 year as a Flight Attendant instructor or related area.
  • Previous or current Flight Attendant qualifications.
  • Knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations related to Inflight Operations/Training is required.
  • Basic computer knowledge in Microsoft Office applications.

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Training or equivalent with at least 2 years of previous experience.
  • Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Previous supervisor or lead experience is preferred.

REGULATORY

Able to pass an FAA required 10 year work history review and pass criminal background and fingerprint checks. Possess and maintain a valid US passport or foreign passport. Authorized by law to work in the United States and able to travel in and out of the United States. Willing to submit to and pass FAA and Company mandated random drug and alcohol tests.

  • Must not have multiple piercings visible while in uniform.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

REASONING/PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Capable of interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to think and react quickly in all types of emergency situations.

Makes day to day decisions used to support strategic direction. Decisions often require some thought and are somewhat structured. Able to process information quickly and react in a positive manner during unexpected and/or serious situations. Capable of controlling personal and emotional responses and acting appropriately under high levels of stress.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must possess the physical strength to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits using necessary movements and force up to and including 70 pounds.
  • Capable of lifting objects above shoulders up to and including 35 pounds.
  • Able to push and pull moveable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
  • Able to walk and stand for extended periods, sometimes with aircraft turbulence.
  • Must be able to stoop, crouch, squat, climb and kneel.
  • Able to see clearly at 20 feet or more with corrective lenses or contacts.
  • Able to hear clearly verbal communications in person and over airplane communication systems with ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
  • Must be able to sit in assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without any modifications.
  • Must be able to move about aircraft and perform all required functions freely, effectively and quickly in confined environment.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel up to 25 of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays and overnight stays.
