Summary:
Prepares, applies, and touches up finishes on aircraft furniture per design specifications and engineering drawings.
Assists leads by overseeing projects, mentoring coworkers, and providing guidance to other finishers.
Perform high-quality repairs and finishing of aircraft furniture both in the shop and on the aircraft.
Apply finishes using spray equipment and manual/mechanical methods.
Interpret material specifications to ensure conformance with engineering and design standards.
Coordinate with the Design group to ensure finishes align with customer-approved samples.
Maintain safety standards and support the 5S and housekeeping programs.
Mentor and train less experienced technicians.
Utilize Lean Six Sigma tools to identify and implement process improvements.
Use material tracking systems to log parts demands, track squawks, and sign off work.
Contribute to team OGSM (Objectives, Goals, Strategies, Measures) initiatives.
Assume Lead responsibilities when needed and help delegate tasks to assigned technicians.
Conduct and assist with safety audits.
Maintain shop equipment and associated Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
Contribute ideas for process improvement through the Your Ideas Work (YIW) program.
Participate in monthly 5S audits.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required
4 years of experience in wood finishing processes
Advanced knowledge of cabinet finishing techniques and products
Aerospace industry experience preferred
Must be computer literate
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs, climb ladders/stairs, and work in confined spaces or on any shift
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
