Position Summary:
Drives gasoline, electric or propane powered industrial truck or manipulator equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, boom, scoop, lift beam and swivel hook, fork grapple, clamps, elevating platform, jaws or trailer hitch, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials by performing the following duties in assigned department.
Reporting Relationships:
The Material Handler will report to various departments, including but not limited to, Maintenance/Warehouse/Forge/Conditioning/Saws/ Machine Shop/Quality Control/ Prod.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
- Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, and transports load to designated area.
- Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
- Inventories materials on work floor, and supply workers with materials as needed.
- Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules as required.
- Loads or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device. Must be able to verify the accuracy of parts leaving facility for outside processing using purchase orders
Required Skills:
- Must possess a Company certified forklift driving authorization.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before managers or other Company employees.
Experience & Education
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.
