Morson is delighted to be working in partnership with a market leading defence organisation to recruit a Supply Chain Assistant for an initial 6 month contract. There is a rate of 22-24 PAYE Per Hour on offer for the successful candidate. The role would be full time on site in Prestwick with a 12:45pm finish on a Friday.

Role Purpose

To plan and organise the business within the Supply Chain Management process thus achieving the Business Objectives in the most efficient manner. To provide guidance and direction in the day to day management of all demand activity in line with topical MPS data from the Supply Base through Receiving to Production then shipment of final assemblies.

Key Responsibilities

• Deputise for Team Leader as required to support the business
• Set up and maintain vendor schedules where applicable
• Maintain regular communications with internal / external suppliers / customers and manage this relationship on a day-to-day basis
• Manage all issues associated with amendments to schedule including changes to orders
• To ensure that MRP system is fully operational and accurate for the area of responsibility including goods received, despatched and shipped processes
• Apply Inventory Mgt procedure to optimise value of inventory across the business with minimum risk
• Ensure team targets are set and reviewed in support of the Operational Performance Measures
• Ensure non system generated data is kept to a minimum
• Ensure impact of any operational / procedural changes on other stakeholders have been discussed and resultant issues resolved before implementation
• Ensure all staff comply with HSE Guidelines
• Conduct and ensure the completion of Operational Reviews with set agenda as determined by business requirements.
• Attend regular communication sessions with manager to familiarise self with topical issues
• Communicate informally with team members as appropriate
• Facilitate and implement an improvement plan that enhances:
• Supply Chain Management processes through regular reviewing and target setting
• Beneficial improvement opportunities in realistic timescales
• Maintain an awareness of the evolving manufacturing environment
• Establish key performance metrics against agreed targets
• Support and assist the Team Leader in the generation of team PDR’s
• Direct and support the team as required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Ability to manage people and lead teams
• Good negotiation skills
• Detailed understanding of ERP systems
• Excellent communication skills – cross cultural
• Knowledge of project management skills and their deployment
• Understanding of Lean principles
• SVQ level 4 qualification or equivalent in related subject
