DescriptionThe Ramp Service Employee (RSE) is responsible for processing baggage, boxes, and/or cargo between baggage/cargo areas in the airport facilities and aircraft, as well as receiving and dispatching aircraft. We pride ourselves on being an on-time airline and are seeking dedicated individuals that understand a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards of operational safety and customer service.
Duties include but not limited to:- Responsible for upholding safety standards, including MOCHA audit completion, safety inspections and feedback to RSEs
- Responsible for arriving and departing flights, using new loading/unloading and scanning tools
- Responsible for the mail & cargo shuttle operation
- Responsible for the daily baggage arrivals/departures/connection area
- Ensuring you drive the performance to meet company’s performance metrics
- Allocation of staff where necessary including breaks, overtime in all areas
- Responsible for compiling and delivering daily briefings
- Follow and uphold PPE & uniform appearance standards
- Assisting in RSE interviews when necessary
- Assist supervisors with performance management, feedback and employee development
- Support the supervisor team with collateral and project work
- Participate and organize internal monthly safety meetings alongside supervisor as part of the Station Safety Action Team Liaison and assist with service partners in above the wing team, SOC team for on time departure
- Support with aircraft damage and employee injury investigation
- Act as ‘Turnaround Co-ordinator or go to individual identified, to ensure consistent compliance with industry best practice (OSI 22, section 3.1.3)
This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.
Unless subject to a collective bargaining agreement in the country to which an employee is being transferred; the employee retains their original date of employment and company seniority in the new country. Upon transfer, the employee is removed from payroll and benefits in former country and appropriately placed in the salary range and payroll / benefits systems of the new country.
Human Resources will assist with the terms and conditions of employment in light of labor agreements, collective agreements, country work rules and labor laws. In the new country, the employee is reinstated using the same employee id, date of employment and company seniority dates.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications - Ramp/Operational experience preferred
- Previous supervisory/leadership experience
- Secondary School Education or equivalent school leaving certificate
- Strong Customer Service focus
- Sound Administration skills (Microsoft word, Excel, Emails) including detailed knowledge of Ramp procedures and the Security Implications
- Tact and Diplomacy
- Cultural Awareness of Work Force – Good Leadership skills
- Strong Interpersonal Skills
- Ability to work under pressure and multi-task as required
- Teamwork
- A good dependability record
- Overall knowledge of United’s Aircraft Loading/unloading Procedures
- Must be flexible, willing and able to work all shifts (early/late) on a rotating shift pattern
- Must be fluent in English and Japanese (written and spoken)
- Must have permanent residency in Japan
- Must be legally authorized to work in the Japan for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
