Job Posting: Aircraft Technician – NASA
Position Type: 9-Month Contract-to-Hire
Work Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (Monday – Friday)
About the Role:
NASA is seeking an experienced Aircraft Technician to join our Aircraft Hangar team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing avionic and electrical systems on NASA’s research aircraft. You will work on a small, highly skilled team of mechanics to support the fleet of aircraft used for cutting-edge aeronautics and space-related research projects.
As part of the Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance, and Engineering (TFOME) team, you will work on Department of Defense (DoD) aircraft that are retrofitted for research purposes, including the Beechcraft T-34 and Pilatus PC-12 turbo props. These aircraft are used for a range of missions such as data gathering, surveying, and advanced research operations. The position requires flexibility, technical expertise, and an ability to work in a small-shop environment with a focus on quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair avionic and electrical systems on NASA research aircraft.
- Retrofit DoD aircraft for research purposes, including stripping seats and modifying systems.
- Work on systems including electrical, avionics, and instrumentation related to data gathering.
- Support aircraft mission requirements, with occasional travel (up to 15 of the time).
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with a small, close-knit team to meet project timelines and objectives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Nice to Have:
- FCC License
- Associates degree or Military Technical Schooling
- Experience with aircraft instrumentation and data gathering systems

Additional Information:
- Must be able to obtain Secret Security Clearance while on contract.
