Aviation Maintenance Technician Instructor
Job Description:

The Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, and operating the AMT curriculum designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration certification and an entry-level position in the aircraft maintenance industry. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with other instructors in the AMT program and carry out functions related to the position as described below. The successful candidate will contribute to the appreciation of diversity and foster an inclusive and equitable working and learning environment.

*Base Salary is $76,167 to $87,517 plus stipend- Pursuant to WA House Bill 2158, faculty teaching in high-demand programs, which includes the Aviation Maintenance Technician Tenure Track Faculty, receive additional compensation. Eligible faculty receive a variable stipend. The average faculty stipend for Fall 2024 was equivalent to $13,518 annually ($89,685-$109,856) The rate is subject to change depending on industry salaries, the number of faculty eligible for stipends, and funding. Funding for the high-demand stipend is appropriated through June 30, 2025.

Duties and Tasks (Essential Functions)

Duty:

Provide classroom and lab instruction utilizing a variety of teaching techniques to prepare students for entry-level employment in the Aviation Maintenance Industry.

Tasks include:

  • Create, implement, and modify curriculum as required to meet learning outcomes.
  • Maintain and manage classroom environment, equipment, tools, and supplies. 
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of professionalism and mutual respect with students. 
  • Maintain a safe environment through instruction, policy, and continuous evaluation of program equipment and laboratory space.
  • Provide career guidance and job placement assistance. 
  • Assess and provide feedback on student learning. 
  • Other duties as assigned

Duty:

Perform college support functions for the Aviation Maintenance Technician program and the College. 

Tasks may include: 

  • Hold office hours for student advising 
  • Participate on college committees. 
  • Participate in shared governance. 
  • Promote college and program training opportunities. 
  • Attend staff meetings, division meetings, and program-related meetings. 
  • Assist with student recruitment and retention for the AMT program. 
  • Attend and conduct program information sessions. 
  • Maintain college communications. 
  • Attend major college events when scheduled.
Job Requirements:
  • Civil aircraft maintenance work experience for at least 10 years. 
  • Current Airframe and Powerplant FAA certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Inspection Authorization certification. 
  • Three years of teaching or training experience in aviation maintenance at an accredited institution, college or university.

Clover Park Technical College is located in Lakewood, Washington.
