Job Title: Composite Repair Mechanic- Local (non per diem): $35-45/hour DOE
- Non Local (per diem): $18-28/hour + $176/day per diem ($40-50/hour equivalent DOE)
Job DescriptionSupporting heavy maintenance and modification of 737 aircraft. The Composite Mechanic will be responsible for removing and reinstalling structure as required to access repair areas, repairing carbon fiber and fiberglass on fairings, flaps, slats, flight controls, and more. This role involves taper-sanding various materials for damage removal in challenging areas, reading repair manuals and drawings to determine the types of materials required for each repair, and applying heat blankets with proper thermocouple placement and bagging schedules. The mechanic will also operate a Heatcon hot-bond console and build splashes from fiberglass and resin for use in the curing process.
Responsibilities
- Support heavy maintenance and modification of 737 aircraft.
- Remove and reinstall structure to access repair areas.
- Repair carbon fiber and fiberglass on fairings, flaps, slats, and flight controls.
- Taper-sand various materials for damage removal in difficult-to-access areas.
- Read repair manuals and drawings to perform repairs and determine required materials.
- Apply heat blankets with proper thermocouple placement and bagging schedules.
- Operate a Heatcon hot-bond console.
- Build splashes from fiberglass and resin for the curing process.

Additional Skills & Qualifications- 2+ years of recent aircraft composite repair in an MRO environment
- Airframe license preferred
- Experience repairing carbon fiber and fiberglass structures on aircraft
- Experience with taper sanding, core plugs, thermocouple placement, and actual composite repair
- Willingness to wear a half-face respirator (clean shaven for respirator fit during first week orientation)
- Possession of minimum hand tools (basic wrenches, socket set, hi-lok plier)

Work Environment
Work in a large MRO hangar setting with schedules from Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Friday, with possible Saturday work. Shifts are 4 hours long, either from 0530 to 1600 or 1530 to 0200, with extra shifts and overtime available (50-hour week typical). The first week will consist of ATS and customer-specific training on day shift, between 24 and 40 hours. Orientations are held every Monday.
