Silverhawk Aviation Academy, Idaho's largest and most established flight school, is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as our Director of Maintenance. The ideal candidate will be a certified Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic with Inspection Authorization (IA) and a proven track record of leadership in an aviation maintenance environment.
The Director of Maintenance is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations for our fleet of 38 Cessna, Piper, and Robinson aircraft. This individual will lead a team of 14 full-time mechanics, ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and fleet reliability. This position reports directly to senior leadership and is integral to the success of our flight training operations.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage the aircraft maintenance team, fostering a culture of safety, precision, and teamwork. Oversee scheduling, training, and performance evaluations for all maintenance personnel.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all maintenance operations are conducted in strict compliance with FAA regulations, including 14 CFR Part 43, Part 91, and Part 141. Serve as the primary liaison with the local FAA Flight Standards District Office (FSDO).
- Fleet Airworthiness: Oversee the entire maintenance program, including all scheduled (50-hr, 100-hr, annual) and unscheduled maintenance, to ensure the entire fleet remains in an airworthy condition.
- Record Keeping & Documentation: Maintain meticulous and accurate maintenance records for all aircraft, engines, and components. Ensure all logbook entries, work orders, and compliance documents are completed correctly and filed appropriately.
- Inventory & Budget Management: Manage the departmental budget, including overseeing the procurement of parts, tools, and equipment. Implement and maintain an effective inventory control system to minimize aircraft downtime.
- Operational Coordination: Collaborate closely with Flight Operations to schedule maintenance in a way that maximizes aircraft availability while upholding uncompromising safety standards.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term maintenance strategies to enhance fleet reliability, control costs, and support company growth.
