Head of Design Organization / Structures CVE Locations: Manchester, UK / Birmingham, UK Department: Service Engineering Direct Report: Sr. Vice President / General Manager Position Summary: STS Engineering Solutions is actively seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to lead our Design Organization as the Head of Design Organization / Structures Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE). This pivotal role will involve managing the Design Organization in accordance with CAA Part 21J regulations, overseeing all aspects of aircraft repair and modification design, and ensuring strict compliance with regulatory standards. The successful candidate will also serve as the Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) for aircraft structures, leading a team of talented engineers and designers in delivering high-quality engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities:

• Design Organization Leadership: Manage and lead the Design Organization, ensuring adherence to CAA Part 21J regulations and CS 23, CS 25, CS 27, and CS 29 certification requirements.
• Regulatory Compliance: Oversee the design and modification of aircraft structures, ensuring all projects meet UK/EASA DOA Organization handbook procedures and design standards.
• CVE Responsibilities: Act as the Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) for aircraft structures, verifying and approving design changes and repairs.
• Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative design office environment.
• Customer & Regulatory Liaison: Interface directly with customers and regulatory authorities (CAA) on technical matters, ensuring clear communication and compliance.
• Project & Financial Management: Assist in project management, technical management, budget forecasting, and financial reporting to support the company’s strategic goals.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Support various management functions, including quoting work, advising on contractual documentation, and contributing to company-wide initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Educational Background: BS Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university is preferred.
• Industry Experience: Extensive experience in the aviation industry, with a strong background in structural repairs, MRO, Base/Line Maintenance, and MRB Engineering.
• Technical Expertise: In-depth understanding of UK/EASA Part 21J regulations, with experience as a CVE signatory for aircraft structures.
• Design Skills: Proficient in designing structural changes and repairs, including work on primary and secondary structures, cabin installations, and FE/fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.
• Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated experience mentoring and leading engineering teams in a design office environment.
• Software Proficiency: Competent in MS Office, AutoCAD, and familiar with CAA/EASA regulatory websites.

• Flexibility: Willingness to combine Head of Design activities with CVE responsibilities, and support management functions across the company.
• Travel: Availability to travel for customer visits, meetings, or industry conferences as required.
