The world is at your feet as a certified engine mechanic at KLM. You maintain, overhaul, and modify aircraft engines and individual components. Its also your responsibility to certify them. With your experience, you serve as a role model for junior engine mechanics. This gives you the opportunity to surpass yourself and help your colleagues progress, every day.
What will you do?When a damaged aircraft engine arrives at the Engine Shop, you assess its condition. You disassemble the engine and inspect all individual components. What needs to be replaced, and what materials are required? If necessary, you consult with a specialist. After the repair, you check whether everything has been delivered according to module and prepare the repaired engine for shipment. Additionally, you will supervise new colleagues: teaching them and ensuring they can work independently as quickly as possible.
In addition:• You test the engine for internal damage and detect any anomalies;• You work with various engine types;• You always keep the customer’s requirements in mind;• You report daily to the team lead and the lead mechanic of the Engine Shop;• You perform administrative tasks;• You adhere to safety regulations.

Where do you land?You’ll be part of Engine Services, a division of Engineering & Maintenance (E&M). Here, we not only maintain our own aircraft but also those of customers worldwide. You’ll work in the Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) department, as part of a team of around twenty colleagues. You will work in shifts: one week of day shifts and one week of evening shifts. Your profileSpending the entire day working on large and small parts? That’s right up your alley. In fact, you enjoy it: you’re a real techie and love working with your hands. You work quickly but precisely, always spotting potential errors immediately. You also have a strong sense of responsibility and find it important that you and your team can work safely. You don’t hesitate to address colleagues if they don’t follow the regulations. Additionally, you enjoy sharing your experience with junior engine mechanics and helping them find their way in the department.
Furthermore:
- You are authorized to perform maintenance on aircraft engines;
- You can work independently and sign off on completed work;
- You speak and understand (technical) English well;
- You have at least three years of experience as an engine mechanic;
- You are familiar with engine types CFM56-7B, CF6, GEnx, and LEAP.
