Job Description BAE Systems is hiring a Mechanical Engineer in Aiken, SC on First Shift to provide Engineering Production Support (EPS) of the multiple production programs. This candidate will serve as an interface between manufacturing, design and production engineering for evaluating and resolving problems related to the design and fabrication of mechanical subsystems, assemblies, and components. This candidate will support design related change notices and variance activities.
This position is part of our onsite Engineering Production Support (EPS) team. The position would be ideal for a Mechanical Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer interested in production manufacturing and problem solving.Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Review and interpret design specifications, drawings, documentation, models, and/or test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements.
- Support vehicle production on 1st or 2nd Shift by being the Engineering Point of Contact for the various programs
- Work with production support to create Problem Reports detailing engineering related issues with items in production, liaising with Integrated Program Team (IPT) to develop a solution.
- Maintain the Variance control process for production related variations from the technical data package (TDP). This includes obtaining Internal and Customer approval for subject Variances.
- Develop timely, complex and non-complex solutions to problems and coordinate effective “fixes” through Variances, standard and non-standard repairs and configuration notes.
- Assist in assigned special projects and/or process improvement teams to improve work effectiveness and relationships between Design and Production (e.g.: improve Configuration Management of TDP and Re-man Drawings, develop and implement design change work flow processes within configuration management and engineering data management systems)..
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety objectives, policies, and rules.
- Daily coordination with onsite Operations, Quality and Supply Chain teams
- Support mBOM and Drawing package related issues
- Support weekly and pre-material review board efforts
- Assist in VIR investigation and responses for Aiken site related issues

- 4/10 Schedule: Work 4 days a week, 10 hours per day (every Friday off).
- 9/80 Schedule: Work 9 days in a 2-week period (every other Friday off).
- 5/40 Schedule: Work 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (every weekend off).
Once youve selected your preferred schedule, it will remain consistent and not fluctuate
