At United, we have some of the best aircraft in the world. Our Technical Operations team comprises aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities professionals, and supply chain teams that help ensure our planes are well taken care of and ready to get our customers to their desired destinations. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and deliver on-time aircraft maintenance work packages that meet work scope, labor hour, and cost targets
- Coordinate with Materials, Tooling, Engineering, and Maintenance Programs to ensure aircraft maintenance visits are properly prepared
- Support maintenance stations during aircraft visits and assist with issue resolution
- Manage maintenance dashboards, data pipelines, and performance metrics to provide actionable operational insights
- Coordinate with vendor management, materials teams, quality control, and tooling groups to prepare aircraft for maintenance induction
- Review post-maintenance visit information and analyze historical performance data to identify improvement opportunities
- Propose and implement solutions that optimize maintenance scheduling and workflow efficiency
- Modify work packages as required due to hangar schedule changes or additional maintenance scope
- Partner with Engineering, Reliability, Airframe Contracts, and Project Planning teams to incorporate reliability initiatives into maintenance visits while managing cost and downtime impacts
Location: This position is based at Willis Tower in Chicago and follows a hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office.
QualificationsWhat’s Needed to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Supply Chain/Logistics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent aircraft maintenance or maintenance planning experience
- 2+ years of technical experience (including academic or professional experience)
- Experience with data analysis and quantitative modeling techniques (statistical analysis, optimization, simulation, spreadsheets)
- General knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated strong work ethic and team collaboration
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Successful completion of the interview process
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What Will Help You Propel from the Pack (Preferred Qualifications)
- Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License
- Experience with programming languages or database systems such as Python, PySpark, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, R, or VBA
- Lean / Six Sigma certification
- Previous experience working in aviation, airlines, or a related technical field (including internships)
- Experience with aircraft maintenance planning or engineering
- Knowledge of aircraft systems and maintenance programs
- Experience managing vendor contracts
- Background in performance management or project planning
- Experience applying continuous improvement methodologies
- Understanding of financial calculations related to maintenance operations (labor hours, materials, etc.)
The base pay range for this role is $73,150.00 to $95,224.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
