About the positionThe Assistant Manager, Purchasing will manage the daily operations of the Purchasing department.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for training and orientation of Purchasing staff
- Scheduling of staff at all locations, and management of overtime hours
- Creation of new & auditing of current policy & processes
- Responsible for invoice approvals for shipping/customs
- Management of customs imports/exports & tariff expenses
- Monitoring of KPIs for all Buyer activities
- Staff hiring, appraisals, and related issues
- Assist in development of the annual budget for Purchasing, maintains budget goals and provides variance explanations as appropriate
- Identify and spanet surplus inventory
- Provide guidance and assistance to Purchasing personnel pertaining to Payroll and Human Resources matters
- Manage all aircraft Heavy Check purchasing requirements
- Review and implement yearly contracts on various goods and services- e.g. Deice fluid, Canada Goose, sea lift etc.
- Ensure Vendors/Suppliers are supplying proper certification with all aeronautical parts purchases in accordance with regulations
Skills & Qualifications:
- Materials Management experience, min. 5 years
- Post secondary education in Supply Chain Management
- Strong software skills - ERP/MRP systems, Excel, Power BI
- Strong analytical skills
- Previous supervisory/management experience required, preferably in a unionized environment
