We are recruiting for a highly motivated and experienced Base Manager to join our team at Milan Malpensa. The role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient management and welfare of our cabin crew community while driving operational excellence and encouraging crew engagement. Reporting to our Cabin Services Country Manager, this position will focus on delivering a thriving and motivated crew environment, championing leadership, and ensuring an exceptional standard of performance at our Milan Malpensa base.
You will be responsible for building a strong and effective crew community that values efficiency, safety, and commercial awareness. This involves managing and coaching Crew Performance Managers, driving crew development and progression opportunities, and creating a culture of recognition for high performance and going the extra mile. Maintaining flying qualifications, you will serve as a visible and accessible leader, promoting operational and safety excellence while ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Accountabilities for this role include overseeing all aspects of crew performance, including on-time performance, absence management, and conduct matters. You will play a key role in promoting crew welfare, addressing issues with empathy and accountability, and engaging with Union representatives where appropriate. Additionally, you will be instrumental in supporting fatigue risk management, organising innovative base communications and events, and ensuring the crew facilities meet operational and health and safety standards.
This position also encompasses responsibilities such as managing budgets, overseeing base administrative tasks, and collaborating with airport and supplier teams to resolve facility-related issues. You will work closely with the network team, acting as a pooled resource and deputising for other Base Managers as needed. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and dedicated individual to shape the future of our Milan Malpensa base and drive the success of our crew operations.
